Export Data

After meshing, you can export the data by clicking Share. You can save it locally, export to RE software for model design, or share it on other platforms.

Save Mesh Locally

You can save the scan data.

In the Share interface, click to select the save path and the file format, enter the file name as well.

Note

  • File formats define the geometric, texture, and color data of 3D models. Each format has distinct characteristics and specific applications. The appropriate format should be selected according to operational requirements.
  • Each file format has its own advantages and limitations. Choosing the wrong format may cause model distortion, printing failures, or incompatibility with slicing software.
Format Data Type Saved as
Description
ASC (whole piece) Optimized cloud points or mesh data Scan.asc
  • Check the data.
  • Quick export and no need for post-operation.
  • Use other software to post-process the data.
STL Mesh Data Scan.stl
  • Advantages: Universal format with high compatibility.
  • Limitations: Contains no texture or internal structure data, requiring post-processing.
  • Applications: Ideal for geometric shapes in 3D printing or reverse engineering.
PLY Mesh Data Scan.ply
  • Advantages: Stores 3D polygonal mesh with geometry and texture.
  • Limitations: Lacks internal structure data, requires post-processing.
  • Applications: Suitable for printable geometries in 3D printing/reverse engineering.
OBJ Mesh Data Scan.obj
Scan.jpg
Scan.mtl
  • Advantages: Universal format preserving complex geometry and textures.
  • Limitations: Larger file size increases processing/printing time.
  • Applications: High-fidelity models for art, 3D rendering, or VR.

Note
Compatible with most post-processing software.
3MF Mesh Data Scan.3mf
  • Advantages: Overcomes STL limitations with complete model data (geometry, color, materials). Compact files enable faster processing.
  • Limitations: Requires compatible software/slicers.
  • Applications: Versatile applications; recommended for copyright management.
P3 Global Markers Scan.p3
  • Reuse the markers' position.
  • Can also contain the cutting plane.
    Note
The format is supported only for point cloud data.
LAS Point Cloud Scan.las Compact point cloud storage with minimal memory usage.

Share Model

You can upload the meshed data to SketchFab after meshing.

In the Share interface, click to upload the mesh data to SketchFab, where the file name, user name and password are required to be provided. You can register an account on the SketchFab to view the shared models.

Export Mesh Model

After the mesh, you can import scanned mesh data into the third-party software.

In the Share interface, click to select the preferred third-party software.

Main Application Scenario
Export data to Geomagic Design X
(2023,2022,2020)
Mainly used for reverse design of mesh data. If the GeomagicDesign X has been installed, clicking this button will open the GeomagicDesign X and import the mesh data.
Export data to EXModel
If the EXModel software has been installed, clicking this button will open the EXModel software and import the mesh data. Mainly used for reverse design of mesh data.
BlueStar Mapping A texture mapping software specially designed for 3D scanners.
