Regular Polygon¶
In the Create Features toolbar, click Regular Polygon to expand the dropdown list, where you can select
Pick on CAD Model,
Anchor,
Numerically,
Fit, and
From Cross-Section.
Extraction¶
If the created feature is a reference feature, the corresponding measured feature can be extracted automatically or manually.
Note
Except for the From Features method, other creation methods support directly specifying features as reference features or measured features. If you define a feature as a reference feature, after importing at least one measurement model, you can extract the measured feature to generate feature pairs.
- Automatic Extraction: Enable Auto Extraction of Measured Values via
Settings in the upper right corner of the software interface or check
Extract Measured Feature in the creation window. The software will automatically extract the corresponding measured feature with default parameters after creating any reference feature.
- Manual Extraction: After creating a reference feature, right-click the feature group in the tree view on the left, select Extract Measured Feature and specify the measurement model to be extracted; you can specify Align Object in the extraction pop-up window.
Pick on CAD Model¶
Create a regular polygon feature by directly clicking on the geometric feature shaped like a regular polygon on the CAD model.
Note
- Before creating a regular polygon feature using the method on the CAD model, please import the reference model first.
- This method supports specifying the feature as a reference feature or measurement feature.
- If defining the feature as a reference feature, at least one measurement model must be imported before extracting measurement features to generate feature pairs.
- Supports directly using
CAD Automatic Creation method in the Auxiliary Feature Creation toolbar to automatically create features.
The steps to create a regular polygon feature using the pick method on the CAD model are as follows:
- In the dropdown list of
Regular Polygon, select
Pick on CAD Model to open the corresponding window.
- Click on the highlighted polygon feature on the model in the 3D scene to create it, and define the feature as a Reference Feature or Measurement Feature in the Pick on CAD Model window.
- Click Confirm to create the feature, which will then be displayed in the left directory tree under the
Feature module as the
regular polygon reference object or
regular polygon measurement object.
Anchor¶
Create a regular polygon feature by directly anchoring points on the model.
Note
- Before creating a regular polygon feature using the anchoring method, please import the reference model or measurement model.
- This method supports specifying the feature as a reference feature or measurement feature.
- If defining the feature as a reference feature, at least one measurement model must be imported before extracting measurement features to generate feature pairs.
The steps to create a regular polygon feature using the anchoring method are as follows:
- In the dropdown list of
Regular Polygon, select
Anchor to enable the anchoring tool.
- Choose the number of edges for the created polygon (3 ≤ x ≤ 8).
- Click on 3 points in the model in the 3D scene, define the feature as a Reference Feature or Measurement Feature in the Anchor window, and then click Confirm to create the feature, which will then be displayed in the left directory tree under the
Feature module as the
regular polygon reference object or
regular polygon measurement object.
Numerically¶
Note
- Before creating a regular polygon feature using the numerically method, please import the reference model or measurement model.
- This method supports specifying the feature as a reference feature or measurement feature.
- If defining the feature as a reference feature, at least one measurement model must be imported before extracting measurement features to generate feature pairs.
Parameter Description¶
- Radius: The radius of the circumscribed circle of the regular polygon, which is the distance from the center point to the vertices of the regular polygon. Only numbers greater than or equal to 1 can be entered, and only up to 3 decimal places are supported; a maximum of 13 digits can be entered before the decimal point.
- Angle: Find an axis in the plane of the regular polygon that, together with the specified angle and radius, determines the first vertex of the regular polygon; the value range is 0° ≤ x ≤ 360°.
Operation Instructions¶
- In the dropdown list of
Regular Polygon, select
Numerically to open the corresponding window.
- Enter the X/Y/Z axis coordinates of the center point of the regular polygon, the normal, angle, radius, and number of edges (3 ≤ x ≤ 8), and define the feature as a Reference Feature or Measurement Feature.
- Click Confirm to create the feature, which will then be displayed in the left directory tree under the
Feature module as the
regular polygon reference object or
regular polygon measurement object.
Fit¶
Create a regular polygon feature by selecting some points on the mesh model for fitting.
Note
- Before creating a regular polygon feature using the fit method, please import the reference model or measurement model (must be a mesh model).
- This method supports specifying the feature as a reference feature or measurement feature.
- If defining the feature as a reference feature, at least one measurement model must be imported before extracting measurement features to generate feature pairs.
The steps to create a regular polygon feature using the fit method are as follows:
- In the dropdown list of
Regular Polygon, select
Fit to open the corresponding window.
- Edit parameters such as the number of edges (3 ≤ x ≤ 8) and exclude noise points, and define the feature as a Reference Feature or Measurement Feature.
- After completing the relevant settings, select the tool in the toolbar at the bottom of the 3D scene, choose the area to be fitted on the model; then click Confirm to create the feature, which will then be displayed in the left directory tree under the
Feature module as the
regular polygon reference object or
regular polygon measurement object.
The introduction to toolbar as well as shortcuts is as follows:

From Cross-Section¶
Create a regular polygon feature based on an existing cross-section.
Note
- Before using the method to create a regular polygon feature from a cross-section, ensure that at least one cross-section has been created.
- This method supports specifying the feature as either a reference feature or a measurement feature.
- If the defined feature is set as a reference feature, measurement features will be extracted to generate feature pairs, but ensure that there is a cross-section containing measurement cross-sections.
The steps to create a regular polygon feature using the method from a cross-section are as follows:
-
In the dropdown list of
regular polygons, select
From Cross-Section >
Click on the CAD Section /
Fit /
Anchor to open the corresponding window:
Click on the CAD Section: After selecting the cross-section, click directly on the reference cross-section, then define the feature as either a reference feature or a measurement feature in the window.
Fit: Select the cross-section, set the number of sides (3 ≤ x ≤ 8), then click directly on the reference or measurement cross-section, and set whether to exclude noise points in the window, defining the feature as either a reference feature or a measurement feature.
-
Anchor: Select the cross-section, set the number of sides (3 ≤ x ≤ 8), then click directly on the cross-section line to select 3 points, defining the feature as either a reference feature or a measurement feature.
Note
The 3 points selected cannot be collinear.
-
Click Confirm to create the feature, which will then be displayed in the feature module of the left directory tree as
a regular polygon reference object
or a regular polygon measurement object
.
