Tree View

The Tree View is an interface component in the inspection software that manages and displays engineering objects in a hierarchical structure. It presents the reference data, measured data, live capture, alignments, comparisons, features, inspections, measurements and other root nodes and their child nodes in a tree structure, and supports managing objects in the 3D scene through operations such as visibility control, renaming and grouping.

General Functions

Collapse / Expand represents the expanded state of a module / group, and clicking it switches to the collapsed state.

Show / Hide Control the visibility of an object in the 3D scene through the button in the Tree View.
  • Alignment root nodes, alignment objects, etc. have no show/hide option.
  • If multiple comparison objects of different types have been generated, this function can be used to control which comparison and the color band associated with the comparison object is displayed.
  • Rename Double-click the corresponding node in the Tree View, or right-click the node and select Rename, to enter editing, then press the Enter key or click outside the input area to confirm.
  • The rename name cannot be empty.
  • After confirming the name, leading and trailing spaces in the name are automatically removed.
  • Special characters are not allowed (/ \ : * ? " < > \t).
  • Group Management You can group multiple objects for quick one-click management.
  • Group: select multiple objects under the same level-1 root node (feature pairs, measured items, etc.), right-click and select Group in the Tree View to generate a group node
  • Ungroup: ungroup the already grouped nodes; supports selecting multiple objects under different root nodes for one-click ungrouping.
  • Only level-2 objects under the same level-1 root node can be grouped
  • The default names are Group 1, Group 2……; the group name can be renamed.
  • Multi-select
  • Supports holding down the left mouse button and moving up or down to multi-select objects.
  • Supports holding the Ctrl key and clicking multiple times with the mouse to multi-select objects.
  • /
    Delete Delete the corresponding object by right-clicking and selecting Delete in the Tree View.
  • When deleting an object with dependencies (such as alignments, inspections), deleting this object will also delete the related objects.
  • Activated alignments and their preceding alignments, initial alignments, etc. cannot be deleted.
  • Property Linkage When you left-click a Tree View object, the property panel displays the specific properties of that object.

    Streamline and Arrange After creating a new project, the corresponding nodes are dynamically displayed based on the operations (such as importing models, creating features).
  • Old project compatibility: when opening an old project, the corresponding nodes are displayed based on the stored operation records
  • Collapsed by default: after feature creation is completed, feature pair nodes are collapsed by default
  • Reference Data

    In addition to the general Tree View functions, the following functions can be operated on the Tree View child nodes under the Reference Data node,

    Export Mesh Export the reference data as a mesh (STL, PLY, OBJ).

    Export after Alignment Transform the reference data to the coordinate system of the measured data according to the selected alignment object and export it.

    Measured Data

    In addition to the general Tree View functions, the following functions can be operated on the Tree View child nodes under the Measured Data node.

    Probing Feature Use the probing tool to probe features; for the content of probing features, refer to the Live Capture chapter.

    Import Measured Data Import measured data again.
  • If a measured data already exists, importing measured data again will automatically group it with the previous measured data; you can continue importing measured data on this measurement group node.
  • If you do not want to group with the previously imported measured data, use the File > Import Measured Data function in the navigation bar above to import the measured data.
  • Replace Measured Data Re-import a measured data to replace the current measured data.

    Scan Mesh Use the scan mesh function to replace or add a measured data.
  • On the measurement group node in the Tree View, clicking Scan Mesh in the right-click menu will by default add the scanned mesh as a new model to the measurement group.
  • On a single model node under the measurement group in the Tree View, clicking Scan Mesh in the right-click menu: if this model was obtained by software scanning, you can select Replace Measured Data or Continue Scanning; if this model was not obtained by software scanning, you can only select Replace Measured Data.
  • On a single model node in the Tree View (frame point, or marker point, or probed object), clicking Scan Mesh in the right-click menu only supports adding a measured data; the added model is grouped with the current object; the newly added scan data applies the alignment state of the current object.
  • On a single model node in the Tree View (mesh), clicking Scan Mesh in the right-click menu: if this model was obtained by software scanning, you can select Replace Measured Data, Add Measured Data or Continue Scanning; if this model was not obtained by software scanning, you can select Replace Measured Data or Add Measured Data.
  • Alignments

    In addition to the general Tree View functions, the following functions can be operated on the Tree View child nodes under the Alignments node,

    Activate Switch the currently effective coordinate system transformation reference.
  • Activated alignments and their preceding alignments cannot be deleted.
  • A measured data can use multiple alignment methods to calculate multiple alignment results, but the current model preview scene only displays one of them, namely the currently activated alignment, to determine the current pose of the measured data.
  • After activating a new alignment object, all subsequent objects that depend on this alignment (comparisons, inspections, measurements, etc.) will recalculate the results using the same calculation method and parameters.
  • If the currently activated alignment is not the alignment used when creating an object (such as 3D Compare, Comparison Points, trimmed/hidden-edge measurement, some GD&T), these objects will be grayed out and become inactive in the Tree View; after re-activating the alignment that the object creation depended on, these objects return to normal state.
  • If the alignment switched on the node is inconsistent with the alignment used when the report was added previously, the related content of this node on the report page (such as color maps, table data) will be cleared and the report needs to be re-added.
  • Export Matrix Export the transformation matrix data of the current alignment object as a matrix file (*.txt) for later use (such as matrix alignment) or archival. The exported matrix is the transformation relative to the current activated alignment state. For example, if the matrix is exported in the currently aligned state, this matrix records the transformation from the "currently activated alignment" to the "current object pose". To reproduce the alignment from the "initial position" to the "target pose", you need to activate the initial position and then export or use this matrix.
    Edit Alignment After creating an alignment, you can modify its alignment parameters and trigger recalculation of the subsequent nodes. Only the Best-fit alignment method supports Edit Alignment.
    Export Measured Data Export the measured data applied with the alignment transformation as an independent file. If the alignment object is associated with a measurement group, when you click to export, you can choose to export all objects in the group or a single specified object.

    Comparison

    In addition to the general Tree View functions, the following functions can be operated on the Tree View child nodes under the Comparison node,

    Edit Comparison Points Add or delete deviation annotation points on the color map.
  • On the color map, left-click to create an annotation point.
  • Select an existing annotation point with a left click, then press the Del key to delete the annotation point.
  • Comparison points are part of the comparison result and can be added to the report; the report will include the current view, the color map, and the values of the annotated points.
    Export Deviation Export the deviation data of comparison objects (such as 3D Compare, 3D Local Comparison, Comparison Points) or the mesh with a color map as a file; supports exporting in TXT, BIN, PLY and DATA_TB formats. If saving as a text file (.txt) / binary file (.bin):
  • When the 3D Compare color map is displayed on the reference data, the reference value coordinates are stored.
  • When the 3D Compare color map is displayed on the measured data, the measured feature coordinates are stored.
    If saving as a mesh file (.ply / .data_tb):
  • When the 3D Compare color map is displayed on the reference data, the reference data mesh is exported.
  • When the 3D Compare color map is displayed on the measured data, the measured data mesh is exported.
  • Edit Adjust the parameters of the created comparison object (Comparison Points).

    Feature

    In addition to the general Tree View functions, the following functions can be operated on the Tree View child nodes under the Feature node,

    Extract Measured Features Select a feature pair node in the Tree View and select Extract Measured Features from the right-click menu; the software will calculate and generate measured features corresponding to the reference features from the measured data based on the reference data.
  • The features used to create child features must come from the same measurement group
  • When the parent feature completes the extraction of measured features, the child features will also automatically extract measured features
  • If there are multiple measured objects, select the corresponding extraction object in the creation window; the first measured data or the first measured data in the first measurement group is selected by default.
  • When child features, 2D features, or multi-selected or grouped items contain only child features and 2D features, right-click the feature group in the left Tree View and select Extract Measured Features to directly extract measured features without selecting a measured data.
  • If the current feature pair has already extracted measured features, when selecting the measured data, only the measured data used for the first extraction is allowed; if the currently activated alignment is inconsistent with the first one, you need to delete the extracted measured features and extract them again.
  • Pair Measured Features Associate the manually created measured features with the reference features to form a complete feature pair.
  • Only feature pairs containing reference features but no measured features can use this function.
  • If the measured feature of a child feature is paired, the parent-child feature association will be released; if the paired measured feature is deleted or the measured feature is re-extracted, the association is restored.
  • If the measured feature is used in the currently activated alignment or an alignment associated with the activated alignment, this feature cannot participate in pairing.
  • Offset Quickly create a new reference feature by entering the offset values in the X, Y and Z directions.
  • Applicable to the creation of point, circle, sphere and slot features.
  • To use the offset creation method, you need to have existing point, circle, sphere and slot features.
  • The offset value can only contain numbers, decimal points and plus/minus signs; a maximum of 13 digits can be entered before the decimal point.
  • Create Measured Feature by Fitting Use the fit creation method quickly through the Tree View, manually select data to extract measured features for the existing reference features; for the specific creation method, refer to the Fit chapter.
  • If the measured feature of a child feature is fitted, the parent-child feature association will be released; if the fitted measured feature is deleted or the measured feature is re-extracted, the association is restored.
  • Set as Datum Mark the created feature pair as a datum (such as A, B, C), so that it can be used in subsequent alignment or geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) inspections.
  • The feature under test and the datum feature cannot be the same feature
  • If the datum feature is re-extracted or modified, the alignments or inspection items that depend on this datum may be recalculated or set to an invalid state
  • Pattern Generate a new array feature from features of the same type for batch management or combined tolerance calculation. Select multiple feature pairs of the same type in the Tree View and click Pattern in the right-click menu to form an array; you can also select an existing array and features of the same type, then right-click Pattern to add new features to the array.
  • A single feature in an array cannot be set as a datum
  • Features in an array are not allowed to be grouped again
  • An array can only be created when the selected features are of exactly the same type
  • Export Reference Features Export the reference feature data selected in the Tree View as a file. Point features do not support Export Reference Features.
    Export Measured Features Export the measured feature data selected in the Tree View as a file. Point features do not support Export Measured Features.

    Measurement

    In addition to the general Tree View functions, the following functions can be operated on the Tree View child nodes under the Measurement node,
